Joe, It sounds like your router is faulty, to be honest. Is it the same basic kind of router as you had before, or does it have extra bells & whistles that you're now using, e.g. is it wireless-capable while your old one was not?
Port 1082 in your original mail was the port number of the connection at the viewer - this uniquely identifies the connection when combined with the connection's port number at the server (which will be 5900 in this case). There's absolutely nothing wrong with the viewer allocating port 1082 for the connection - it's just the port that the computer has allocated for that particular connection to use.
