Hamachi is a vpn technology. You can run this software on several machines
and create a private network that runs on top of the existing networking stuff.
VNC uses a TCP connection between machines. As such, most firewalls block
incoming traffic unless there is an established session through the
firewall( some will block
anyway).

Back to Hamachi. The free accounts are what you get when you download
the software.
It will allow you to create multiple networks and attach up to 16
computers to that network.

Hamachi uses IPSEC technology with UDP packets. This means that most
stateful packet inspection firewalls will allow this data through.
The end machines decode
the IPSEC packets and hand the data off to another virtual network
interface inside the
computer to act as a normal networking interface.

The reason I mention any of this is VNC is a security risk if used
across the internet or
you open a firewall port just to allow you to have access. The VNC
passwords are not totally in the clear like ftp but with a little work
with ethereal you can get it. Also once a
session is established someone could snoop the session and watch what
is being done.
With a VPN, none of this data exists on the internet for someone to use.

Thanks in advances.
