With regard to any network service, "server" always means the side you are
connecting *to*, or the "remote" side of the connection (the side that is
listening for connections), while "client" means the side you are connecting
*from*, or the "local" side (the side that initiates the connection). So, if
you want to connect *from* a FreeBSD machine to a Windows one and view the
(remote) Windows desktop using a (local) FreeBSD application, then FreeBSD
is the client, and Windows is the server. If you want to do it the other way
(view FreeBSD - possibly virtual - desktop using a Windows application),
then FreeBSD is the server, and Windows the client.
It's like a telephone: if you call your friend, then his/her phone is a
server, and yours is a client. If your friend calls you, then your phone is
a server, and your friend's phone is a client ;-).
