Marc, As has been discussed previously on the list, ARD is based on VNC but is not VNC-compatible, so you may get unpredictable results trying to use it with VNC.
The problem you're seeing with OSXvnc simply sounds like you've set it only to accept connections from the local machine. You may wish to contact the OSXvnc developers directly for support for the software, though.
