Elmer unless you want to install an app for it (like Screen Shot Deluxe) A simple way is close to what you tried. Try using Ctrl + Print Screen OR Alt + Print Screen the open Microsoft Paint and Ctrl + V (to paste the picture into Paint) You can then save and or edit the picture to your liking. If you need to paste it into a Word document you can skip the pasting in Microsoft Paint part and just paste the image in Word.
