This is my first post to this list. I really need help setting up VNC. I have two computers on a peer-to-peer network running off a small router. Actually I have more but it doesn't matter, because the VNC server runs on a desktop and the Viewer on a laptop. Both machines see each other's shares fine. They are both running Win XP SP2 with all the latest updates and patches. VNC is free edition 4.1. Now, when I enter the IP address of the server in the viewer it gives me a timeout error. In the network I am able to Remote Desktop to the desktop box using the netbios name. Please let me know what to do, it is critical for me to be able to remotely access my PCs when on the road.
