Hi Marc,

Just use Reply-To-All to send your reply to the original sender as well as
to the list.

Have you checked the event log on the server computer?  Unless the
connection is originating from an IP address blocked by your "Access
Control" settings, you'll see events logged explaining why the connection
was dropped.
