Have sorted it. I had both the VNC viewer program and the Java viewer set to listen on port 5900. As soon as I set the java viewer back to 5800 and opened it on the firewall, all is good.
I thought that both could be set to listen on the same port but I must be wrong. Thanks for the responses guys. -----Original Message----- From: Arthur Simpatico [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, 7 February 2007 12:45 AM To: 'Justin Temp'; [email protected] Subject: RE: [Bulk] No password dialog with RealVNC 4.1.2 Justin, Ports need to be properly forwarded as well as being opened. Connecting from within my organisations network (from my work computer to the box running VNC Server) is no probs, but when I VPN in to the network from home I get no password dialog when attempting to connect. Using either the program or the java viewer, after putting in the computers static IP, the connection details dialog box disappears but no password dialog appears. All firewalls are set up to allow port 5900 (which is the port I am using to connect with). A port scan from my home computer when VNC'ing in shows that port 5900 is open. Can someone shed some light on my little issue? _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [email protected] To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list -- No virus found in this incoming message.
