Greg, You'll need to create an exception in Windows Firewall for the VNC Server executable, so that it can accept connections through it.
Note that we do not recommend use of VNC Free Edition over untrusted networks. VNC Personal & Enterprise Editions provide have in-built session security, making them secure for use over the Internet (and can also configure Windows Firewall for you automatically if you wish!). You could alternatively set up separate secure tunnel software to run VNC Free Edition over, too.
