I am currious if it is possible to load a minimal Linux installation, without
the X-Windows server, and use VNC graphically.
I could try it but I thought it would be preferable to see if this is even
possible before spending any time on this issue.
If it is not possible, then, it would definitely save me from wasting time.
My goal is to have as little a distribution as possible with only the
necessary server services loaded (SSH, MAIL, VNC) and requiring only a small
amount of RAM (let's say 16MB) but naturally without the XFree86 X-Windows
server (as it likes more RAM). I would start a VNC server at boot and use it to
remotely control that server. (Yes, I know I could also do it using SSH in text
mode).
I know that there are possible security issues against doing just that but I am
curious to know if it is possible.
I heard of very minimal implementation of VNC and even some discussion about an
embedded version. This is why I am looking into this.
