There is a bug in alpha-3 which can cause lockups under some circumstances,
however this is not one of the known failure modes. May I suggest
temporarily turning off the firewall software and seeing if this improves
the situation? VNC uses some mildly unusual network-transmission semantics
which could cause a conflict with firewall or tunnelling software if such
software is running on the same machine as the Server.
