Ok. Here is the exact commands and errors I get:

Name of the linux server=linux
Name of the Win98=mufit

1. Linux runs vncserver as a service automatically
2. I boot Linux to console (X is not running) Level 3
3. I run vncviewer from Win98
4. When I enter linux:0 (or whatever the number I give 1,2,3,4,...) on
the viewer, I get "Failed to connect to server" message
5. The network (TCP/IP) works ok if I telnet to the linux
6. I telnet to the linux box, and run startx as user. I get "can not
start X server. Perhaps you do not have console ownership..."
7. I use su, then vncserver :0, vncserver: 1, vncserver :2, vncserver :3,
vncserver :4. All of them gives "A vncserver is already running as
:(0/1/2/3)
8. I still can not connect using the viewer. I get "Failed to connect to
server".
9. When do vncserver :5, I get "Starting applications specified in
/root/.vnc/xstartup, Log file is /root/.vnc/linux.deltagrup.com.tr:5.log"
10. Then It becomes possible to connect using linux:5 and by entering the
password. I see the the screen of KDE which is just starting.

*Could you please explain me why I can not connect with linux:0/1/2/3/4 if
a vncserver is already running on that display.
*I don't want to run X on the server all the time, but I prefer using vnc
instead of telnet. Is it possible?
*(off topic) How can I start X when I telnet to the linux server as a user?
( I get "console ownership" message)

Your help is appreciated.

Mufit
