FYI, I had this grey screen recently, Solaris_7_in_Germany server to Solaris_8_in_USA viewer, ... my viewer was grey. I was using an xstartup file I've had success with on Solaris 8 servers, and was stuck and needed a quick solution. So I tried this at the Solaris_7_in_Germany machine command line:
$ DISPLAY=stt235:1 /usr/dt/bin/dtwm & My grey-screen viewer turned into a CDE desktop. BTW, stt235:1 is the name of the VNC server instance I was running. Maybe I'll dig and find out what my original grey-screen problem really is, but at least I'm fine for now with this workaround. -- -Kurt Lloyd, [EMAIL PROTECTED], (978) 960-6276 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > still having the grey screen when i connect to the vnc service. > > i have modified the xdm-config and the /root/.vnc/xstartup files > is there an FAQ designated to this specific topic or can someone help me > out? > > thanks > > Ryan Cayton > Technical Analyst > Horine and Associates, LLC. > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the line: > 'unsubscribe vnc-list' in the message BODY > See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html > --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the line: 'unsubscribe vnc-list' in the message BODY See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------
