I'm having problems using the "-depth 1" option.

I am using the Redhat 7.2 RPM package.

First I modified the vncserver wrapper so that it
let's me use a depth smaller than 8.

I then went to the server and issued:

[alonsoa@fs01 alonsoa]$ ./vncserver-wrapper -depth 1 -geometry 640x480

New 'X' desktop is fs01.in.ggsys.net:3

Starting applications specified in /home/alonsoa/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /home/alonsoa/.vnc/fs01.in.ggsys.net:3.log

I then go to the client and issue:

[alonsoa@power alonsoa]$ vncviewer fs01:3.0
VNC server supports protocol version 3.3 (viewer 3.3)
Password:
VNC authentication succeeded
Desktop name "alonsoa's X desktop (fs01.in.ggsys.net:3)"
Connected to VNC server, using protocol version 3.3
VNC server default format:
  Single bit per pixel.
Least significant bit in each byte is leftmost on the screen.
Using default colormap which is TrueColor. Pixel format:
  16 bits per pixel.
Least significant byte first in each pixel.
True colour: max red 31 green 63 blue 31, shift red 11 green 5 blue 0
Using shared memory PutImage
vncviewer: read: Connection reset by peer
ShmCleanup called

Which as you can see returns immediately and doesn't
really connect to the client.

I'm trying to the an old LCD display that is monochrome
to connect to a specific application that I am writting
that will run under a vncserver.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Alberto
