Hello everyone!
Today we've finally released an all-new TightVNC version 2.7.1. It comes
packed with useful features and improvements, not to mention a heap of
bug fixes.
Here are some of key features you can get your hands on:
* New single application sharing mode
Now there is no need to share the whole desktop if you need to
remotely control only one application. (For now, this mode is available
as a CLI option.)
* Performance optimization for Windows 8
For servers running on Windows 8, desktop sharing is now ultra
fast due to Desktop Duplication API support. There is no need in a
mirror driver, it just works out of the box.
* Password protection for all server-side changes
To increase security, each attempt to change server settings can
be password protected. (By default, a password is asked only once, when
the session is started.)
* ZRLE and RRE encoding support
Added support for ZRLE and RRE compression. Now TightVNC Server is
fully compliant to the latest RFB protocol specification.
* Improved compatibility with VNC servers
Now Viewer can successfully connect to servers that require RFB
protocol 4.0 or higher (in fact, RFB 3.8 will be used to establish
connection).
* Fixed full-screen issues
Now the full-screen is properly restored if Viewer was minimized
to the task bar. An issue with Ctrl+M is also fixed.
