Julien,

1). Do you currently use VOP Mail?

2). Do you have in house *nix experience?

These are questions everyone on this list needs to start asking. I'm
getting really fed up off reading these Vircom should do this or Vircom
could have done this type threads. Simply put Vircom currently provide
an Email Server solution that is one off the most stable and feature
rich on the market. Admittedly there are things that I would like to
see, and Vircom are well aware off this (especially a total re-write off
the Web Mail system). However, what would you use if not Vircom
products? There are other windows based email servers that are feature
rich and in a similar price range, but do you think the service would be
any better?

Vircom's support guys go out off their way when you have problems. They
are all knowledgeable and work hard to keep up with differing
specifications as the products evolve.

Vircom has also had a major shake up since merging with another company,
this has obviously taken a lot more resources than they anticipated and
hence why people think Sylvain disappeared. I know Sylvain has been
hiding in the background and has done his best to ensure the continued
success off Vircom after all he is the principal owner and has a lot at
stake.

This announcement has shown that vircom do listen. The recent thread on
VOP Mail support plans and the lack off upgrades has obviously played a
major role in getting Vircom to make this announcement.

Now, rather than bashing them blindly why not wait till a feature set is
available (come on Daniel leak it out!). This will at least give you a
reason for either upgrading or migrating to another product. In the
meantime I am sure that VOP Mail is working for you perfectly fine, and
unless you want to spend money on new software and new support
agreements stick with it as I am sure the bug fixes and new features
will be well worth the upgrade insurance price.

Think off it this way a, a single support instance with M$ costs more
than 1 year upgrade insurance for VOP Mail!

Regards,

Suneel.

Hello,

I agree with Petar about the way Vircom asks us money :).

I asked the sales of Vircom to know if something might be possible to do
with this (too) short delay to decide buying the upgrade since there has
been no upgrade for a long time (pay in September when Vop 6 is out,
maybe).

Microsoft does the same thing anyway: their support contract ("Software
Assurance") allows one to buy upgrades that may never be available.
Everytime with M$ products, I decide not to buy the "software assurance"
since I'm not sure what will be my software needs, even in one year.

Now I know that Vopmail 6 might solve some of our problems with mail
delivery. But I won't pay for something I'm not sure about.

Julien
