Petar,

I'm no big fan of Vircom but I must admit that they have their good points.
We are looking forward to the upgrade to 6.0 (mainly to remedy some bugs,
increase performance and a badly needed update to WebMail).

We switched from Post.Office, and while I've had some bumps in the road with
Vircom and VopMail I have never really had a bad experience with their tech
support (yes - we have a contract). The fact that Yves chimes in on this
list from time to time is something that I am very thankful for.

Now,,, the main points for us to be happy about VopMail 6.0....

1. New features in Webmail - We host about 250 domains and around 6,000
mailboxes, most of which are mobile users who use Webmail Exclusively. The
modus version of webmail adds some enhancements (import/export contacts),
better support for file attachments and a slightly improved html editing
engine for the mail (the last two are problems that have resolved since the
VopMailWeb Pro version).

2. Multithreaded SMTP - this is a big plus and I have to say probably the
biggest reason that we would $$ for an upgrade to VopMail 6.0. Right now we
relay all outbound mail for AOL.com and ec.rr.com to our old post.office
box. The mail reason is so that messages that get "hung" don't keep the
rest of the queue from going out. As I understand it, the multithreaded
design will prevent this from occurring and eliminate our need to keep an
older server active (although we could operate without it now, a lot of our
clients send BIG attachments and it backs the queue up pretty quickly).

3. Common code base - As a developer myself, I believe (although I may be
wrong) that when you have 2 products that are using radically different code
bases, only one gets the major updates (the newer one usually). Why create
double the work? When both code bases are similar, updates are easier and
less costly to implement (therefore more likely to occur to both products at
the same time). With the similar code base, if a bug is discovered in
Modus, it is more likely that it will be fixed faster, since VopMail 6.0 is
now the same code base, it's easier to fix in both packages, and more likely
that both will remain current.

Just my 2 cents....

Robb
