No, Its not installed.  Optional component in windows 2003.  Port 25 responds with Vircoms smtp greeting message and so does 110.  The SMTPDS doesn’t look like it runs on a port.

I looked at vircoms support database and it says to remove and replace the services which I have done and also make sure the dns is working which it is.

Any other ideas ?

You don't have MSSMTP running in the IIS MMC?

Before starting up VOPMail, can you telnet into the machine on port 25 or 110?

Heya Guys,

Almost there with Windows 2003 and Vopmail 5.1.

We have one more error to fix  the SMTPDS service will not start.  We get a dialog box with the error message if we try and manually start.

“Could not start the SMTPDS service”

“Error 997”

“Overlapped I/O Operation in Progress”

Anyone know what might cause this ?   There doesn’t seem to be any other service that should interfere and there are no other programs loaded on this server.

Ta anyone.

Thanks for this.

We have set it up on a test server for now and it seems to work well BUT we now have a small problem.  Looks like we have deleted our webmail download during a recent cleanup, and worst of all our license key can’t access the download section on Vircom’s website Anymore. Something about buying a support plan.

Is this right ?  We have to buy a support plan for a package we have already bought ? and have had running for over 12 months ?

Doh !

Modus Mail also runs slightly faster.

Works like a charm.  Faster in my opinion.  Been running it this combo for about a month now in production.

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience with running Vopmail 5.1 on Windows 2003 ?   I am thinking of upgrading my 2000 server as 2003 seems to be much faster on the few systems I have experienced it with.

Are there any known issues ?

Does it run better or worse ?

Thanks in Advance
