Gamma rays have been seen, but never at levels commensurate with plasma fusion. They are sporadic and at millions of times below that, like the neutrons. They are easy to detect, which makes them useful. Iwamura detected them before he began looking for transmutations. I think he stopped trying to detect them after that. Many others have seen them, but always sporadically, even when the heat is stable. - Jed
