I think one of the best arguments in favor of the cryo-fuel idea is that it's evolutionary. All of the processes are known and only need to be scaled up and made more efficient. Storage and transport would automatically be more efficient on a larger scale.
Although oil companies wouldn't be too happy about it, automobile companies would. They would be essentially making the same type of vehicle, pistons, cylinders, cranks, valves, transmission, etc. But they wouldn't be burdened with all the emission controls and other related regulatory problems. Also, service stations would look pretty much the same. I see no reason why sophisticated electronic control of a CVT couldn't be used to vary pump speed/torque in order use a wind turbine efficiently. After all, making liquid air is just a matter of a bunch of pumps and tubing arranged properly.
