Timed for the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII, the Japanese Imperial Household Agency has released some documents, photos and recordings. They released a digital copy of the Emperor's surrender proclamation audio recording, which you can find here:
http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/stream/?id=2840953 This was widely reported in the U.S. press. They also released photos and a video of the Emperor's bomb shelter on the grounds of the palace in Tokyo. This has not been as widely reported. The bombshelter was abandoned after the war and it has not been used since. It is in ruins. It is haunting site. The Agency released a video showing a walk through, with no words and only a few written descriptions.
