I think you are right that surface preparations are important. So is the
initial choice of the material. Unfortunately, I do not know anyone who can
tell you how to prepare a nickel surface. Very few people can make nickel
produce heat at all. Rossi may know how to do this but he is keeping his
methods secret.

Patterson may have known how to make nickel produce heat, but unfortunately
he took his secrets to the grave with him.

As far as I know Rossi has not revealed his methods. Perhaps he did, in the
recent patent. I cannot judge. I do not know how well that patent works. If
it does not reveal exactly how to prepare the nickel, it seems to me it
must be invalid. (I know little about patents, so I could be wrong.)
