Stan Pons and his family were subjected to threats. He was frightened. He told me that, and so did Gene Mallove. I do not know to what extent that motivated him, but it was a factor. It is also the reason he renounced his U.S. citizenship and took French citizenship. You don't have to do that just to get access to a good lab in France. - Jed
