There is a WORLD of difference between suspending disbelief and ignoring facts. I am always ready to "consider ideas and phenomena," but that is not the same as pretending that Benjamin Spock said things he did not say. "Suspending disbelief" would include entertaining the notion that spanking is actually good for children. That is plausible. It would not include inventing statistics to show that crime is increasing when it is actually decreasing.
