I am sufficiently intrigued to see where Fred and Jones go with this to suggest that I hold fire on posting any alternative JC theories for now, lest they prove distracting. However, would it be helpful in the current context for me to provide a summary of the various (yes, there are more than one) water pre-treatment regimes proposed for the JC? The techniques are a tad more involved than Jones has previously suggested. Patrick
