You cannot light diesel fuel with a match either, unless
you heat it to the flash point. I used a bit of methanol
as a primer, but burned off my eyelashes, eyebrows,
pompadour, and nose hair when I was putting the lid on
the "empty" one-gallon methanol can in the sunlight.
With a very red singed face I looked kind of strange.
 
I had to use eyebrow pencil and mascara for days after.
