The softening of public perception probably began after the HG Wells barometer test. I wonder how many movie/tv show scripts have been subsidized clandestinely since to desensitize public perception of OFOs/ETs...?
Intentions? We may be nothing more than pets in a global terrarium. The far side base maybe just the broadcast end of a galactic wi-fi camera they get to watch us on their desktop for a nominal subscription fee.
