In my last post I did not include my view on that great biological system called man.
Einstein in his glory did not take into consideration the bio-system in his presentation of the twin paradox. The bio-system of man is very dependant on the conditions under which it evolved (on earth). It is subject to differences in solar radiation, barometric pressure, magnetic orientation and on and on. The prime movers in space travel (NASA) have little if any real data on what will happen on a 600+ day trip to Mars for example. We have evolved as we are under the conditions in which we are and changing those conditions can be posibility devastating. It will not be possible for a space ship to simulate the same Gravity, Radiation, Magnetic, EM, etc., under which we are subject on this planet. As a result it is anyone's guess what will happen to the organism over time. We are (our cells) very adaptive, yet it does not happen over night and extinction is a very real possibility should we force an environmental change such as what would be seem in extended space travel. It takes little insight to watch cells under a microscope and appreciate that they (our building block) are much more and very dependent on evaluation and time to adjust. To my knowledge, no one has any idea where that up or down counter is that governs the number of heart beats or cell replications, in fact there may not be such a counter, it may indeed be something totally different which may be significantly impacted by travel outside of out little world. I think the general community is being sheltered from the real facts of what takes place in extended space travel. If you have a machine such as NASA, how indeed can you be forthwith and truthful and survive? Really, 'We went to the Moon with 4096 bytes of core memory' and we can't get back there now with a cheap 3gig Dell with 4gig real memory? ***FOOD for thought, not trying to stir the pot. -----Original Message----- From: Jones Beene [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, June 21, 2007 12:02 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Vo]:Time is...? Ha! LOL ... but still, there are some interesting implications, both on the upside and downside. For instance, if you (as a biological entity) can manage to get outside of a gravity field, then there is 'no time' in any objective sense: meaning that intergalactic travel is easily possible ... and you might get to another galaxy in no time, so to speak ... except for the little problem of biological processes not being denominated by time, so much as by things like the maximum number number of heartbeats and/or other factors related to wear-and-tear. ... adds a slightly different perspective to the 'twins paradox'... ----- Original Message ---- From: Horace Heffner > "time" is...err... gravity? Hmmm..., that must mean time is up.
