FWIW There is a short video of Mr. Knapen demonstrating his version of the STEORN device, titled "Demonstration of the Kinetica toy". Slightly over two minutes in length Knapen describes his thought processes. Knapen then demonstrates what he believes is behind the STOREN principal.
