Yes. Promising results have also been seen with Ti, and to a lesser extent Ni. But these have not been widely replicated. I was discussing the hypothetical situation in which only Pd works effectively. In that case, I doubt that CF can produce all of the energy we need. If U, Ti or Ni work just as well as Pd, then they will be used instead, because they are much more abundant and cheaper. In that case the market for Pd will collapse, and the price will fall. - Jed
