Jed wrote..Do you mean that water is a higher priority than energy? Humans can live some 4-6 minutes without oxygen, some 4 plus days without water and some 30 days plus without food. As a kid living in Morgan's Point Texas overlooking Barbour's Cut, we had firewood from the backwood... no electric power, no gas, no refrigeration, no air conditioning no water well, and no water except rainwater. Rural electrification didn't begin until 1937. I was 10 years old at the time. People got by. It is easier to conserve electric power than it is to produce it. Yes, from my experience.. . water has higher priority than energy. Given that our nation could no longer function as back in the 1930's, There will be major adjustments in the US living standards resulting from the COST of energy.. NOT... the supply. As this fiscal reality arrives we will see electric lights turned off at night.. not on. A nation like the USA cannot suffer a loss of a 1/3rd in value of it's currency in a few short years and expect things to remain the same as before. I live in a rural area and the rich are buying land around me and building "retreats" just in "case". The problem is their home architecture used is scaled solely to electric power produced by our local Fayette Power Plant coal fired plant that receives coal from Wyoming via railcar. FPP recently begin boating and trucking in coal from Mexico. Everyone drills a water well to keep their estate in turf grass and the water table drops and they lower the well bowls. We built a huge dugout lake by using the old creek bottom some years back. The water is now polluted by emissions from FPP. But not to worry, this 1970 model FPP ole smokey owned by the state of Texas , will be upgraded "soon" , honest injun, no lie, one of the 25 worse polluters in the nation. Most folks around here ask me what size generator set to buy for emergency.. I suggest a roof gutter, a piece of pipe and an underground cistern water tank. Gonna need it for water before you will need electric gen sets. No electric power ,no water , unless you have a rainwater tank and a bucket. Any of your old grandmothers will tell you they made the best pickles using rainwater from the cistern. Well. lesson for the day.. I need to check my still out behind the Dime Box saloon. Richard
