Re the Galileo report:
Shooting from my not scientific enough hip, my immediate impression was that
somehow there was some sort of resonance effect causing the repeating 6'ish
pattern of pits in Kowalski's slide. As the stylus is dragged across the
surface, I speculate that intense "fingernails down a blackboard" sound
waves are being created and that weakens/changes the molecular structure of
the CR39 causing the repeated pattern pits when the plastic is acid-etched
later on. Or not. Shoot me down at will.
