Richard's story reminds me of a Lyndon Johnson story. One of his
associates shot himself several times with bolt action rifle and then
asphyxiated himself by running a hose from the exhaust of his car into
the passenger compartment. This suicide, the coroner officially ruled it
as such, prevented the man's making any offending testimony against
Senator Johnson.
Howdy Thomas,
In Texas, sometimes truth is oft stanger than fiction. Living here requires
a certain mental posture which can mean that we often must fit the fiction
to the facts . whereas .. in Washington DC, facts have absolutely nothing to
do with anything so why waste time.
DC, where no principle is held so sacred that it cannot be sacrificed for
gain and it's not nearly as important to win as it is to make sure the other
guy loses.
LBJ, in Washington, was in his natural element. He was one of many to
germinate in the fertile political soil of Texas..
Hmmm.. well.. err.. lets say some of the fertilizer we use tends to stick .
No problemo.. unless ya happen to become el prez and have a habit of resting
yur boots on your desk.. Sooner or later.. people gonna notice .
