I recently stumbled across a new "Plant Process Diagram" that appears to be more sophisticated than previous illustration attempts.
See: http://nextbigfuture.com/2008/08/blacklight-power-follow-up-and-other.html http://tinyurl.com/6yhgex The diagram appears to have been copied from one of BLP's technical PDF presentations: http://www.blacklightpower.com/presentations/TechnicalPresentation081408.pdf See page 139. Any comments from the Peanut Gallery? I wuz noticing that the "reactor" is beginning to resemble a nuclear containment "dome." The diagram appears to show some kind of a rotary device near the top of the reactor dome. At least that's how I personally interpret it. A mixing chamber? At this highly speculative juncture I would guess that the "dome" reflects, visually speaking, the initial diagrams the new team of BLP engineers have assembled in their attempts to harness the controversial BLP process. It would be interesting to see if these speculative diagrams remain the same or whether the initial designs begin to diverge wildly as the engineers get into the thick of things. Historically speaking, I seem to recall that the 1960 vintage LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) was initially sketched on a paper napkin. Remarkably, that initial paper napkin design didn't change all that much from the final plans. I've noticed the same phenomenon myself when I needed to explore a new illustration idea. It's as if the freedom of sketching on a paper napkin (or a piece of scratch paper) allows for a fresh breath of freedom to explore anything that bubbles up to the conscious surface - particularly when one believes the output doesn't really matter.(The creative juices do not feel obligated to put-out, which is a sure fire way of stifling creativity.)
