SOHO solar observatory frequently photographed comets crashing into the sun. It seemed that, often, these events correlated with CMEs. One must wonder:
a) What composes cosmic dust? Are there exotic particles included? and b) What effect will this bombardment have on the solar system in general and old Sol in particular? Is there a real reason to be concerned when the system passes through the galatic ecliptic? Were the Mayans right?
