Howdy Robin, Considering the advances the Isrealis have made in their Dead Sea project research, salt can he heated to some very high temperatures. Combine the efficency of closed loop freon engines and certain possibilities can be visualized for standby power generation.

Wind electric power can be stored. One of the most popular is hydrogen..
however.. heat can be stored using salt, an ideal eutectic.
