you ever been in ireland? life stops when it gets to zero. if there's freeze, or snow, everything (and i do mean everything) grinds to a halt. its -10C there. they dont know what to do with themselves. as you might've gathered, people have been stranded over the xmas hols in the u.k. and also in ireland. yes, they're all wimps compared to finns, and they're all wimps compared to a good -45C in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. the fact that they're all wimps and so on, doesn't change the fact that, as one person told me in Tralee, there's not a single snowplow in the whole of ireland, and that places shut down and trains and so forth stop when it gets snowed down enough. yes, i look at all this from within my apartment with triple-glazed windows, and wonder why can't they just design their apartments better so its not +10C inside them with no insulation.
