Let me amend my previous statement:
You can always reset a computer -- IF the designer included a
hardware reset switch that you can find.
On the bottom of a laptop and you will usually find a recessed reset
switch that can be pressed with a ballpoint pen. With HP desktops,
hold down the front power switch for several seconds.
In other words the microprocessor always has a hardware interrupt
line but certain witless designers don't let you push it. Plan B is
to cut off AC power and (even) remove all batteries.
