First off, the fine structure constant isn't :-) meaning it is not really
constant, and supposedly has a value that "must be" determined
experimentally but never has - yet, there are many tantalizing natural
quantum relationship that get you close to 1/137 - to the extent that anyone
with a mystical inclination can come to understand Eddington's fascination
with a logical derivation.

Where does the find structure constant come from? I have found an answer. It
is the ratio of the
speed of sound in the nucleus to the speed of light in a vacuum. Look for my
next paper in Infinite Energy
in July. I do this calculation. I presented the answer at Johns Hopkins in
Feb.

The review of Planck's constant is long overdue. It is empirical. It cannot
be derived from fundamental analysis.
I have presented my constant 1.094 million meters per second. It is not
empirical, it is the velocity of sound in
the nucleus. I have derived the energy levels of the hydrogen atom, and the
probability of transition based on this constant
in last oct IE.
