In the ‘know your history’ department….

Most of us know of Louis Kervran’s controversial bio-transmutation story,
and the positive data. If Kervran’s thesis is correct, nature has already
evolved a number of ambulatory “alchemical” factories – bio-alchemical - as
it is called. Much of that data however has been called “chicken-feed” by
detractors.

Many of us are fence-sitters (on the accuracy of this hypothesis) .. but it
seems to me more likely than not, since the evidence for bio-transmutation
is strong. OTOH, there is a lack of confirming evidence. In his writings,
Kervan attributes his strongest influence for understanding this field (what
we now call LENR) to the work of Louis Nicolas Vauquelin.

Vauquelin may be the true father of LENR.

Lavoisier, who indeed was to become known as the father of modern chemistry,
was his mentor - and up to 1794 when he unfortunately “lost his head”
(insert Jon Stewart sardonic grin here) Lavoisier had come to the conclusion
that chemical transmutations from one element to another could not happen.
This had little to do with his skepticism for LENR (insert another Jon
Stewart sardonic grin here). Then things get out of focus due to the mass
hysteria of the time. Hey, this new angle could be a sequel to Les Miz, Vic.

Anyway - it has been reported that a few years later, in 1799, his protégé
Vauquelin observed the bio-alchemical reaction:

Si + C -> Ca

This CANR reaction was to become Kervran’s spark of inventive inquiry year
later … and think for a moment - about a species that demands calcium for
survival (egg shells) and then see whether or not, in careful experiment,
this species can actually make it when necessary, due to deprived
conditions. Yes, it is the obvious tactic to take, in retrospect, but why
has this work been neglected by the mainstream? Plus, the experimental
method of Vauquelin was reported to be as stringent as Lavoisier's … yet
there is little information online, on the actual experiments. A conspiracy
in itself.

Let’s hope that Michel has heard of this and can enlighten us wretched
investigators on this bit of French History ? In a way, it would be
provocative (or at least dramatic) to reset the stage for LENR back in the
1700s…

Let the skeptics eat brioche … Off with their heads …
