There is a good movie, Medicine Man, where Sean Connery is shown the
cure for cancer by a jungle shaman.  The shaman pointed Sean to the
flower from which the elixir was derived; but, his attempts to
replicate all fail.  What the shaman did not reveal was that it was
only those flowers which were invaded by a certain ant species which
yielded the successful compound.

Perhaps an impurity found by Rossi in the Gerli nickel holds the
secret of the catalyst.
