It's conventional wisdom and takes various forms, one of which is:


1. "It's not true,"

2. 'Well, it may be true, but it's not important,"

3. "It's true and it's important,but it's not new-we knew it all along."

It's the old "any conceivable phenomenon must be true if someone is
skeptical of it" argument. Not very persuasive.
