This is just rethorics. It can mean that they were exchanging e-mails for a
year. They did not specify what, where and how they were working, but it is
just your imagination, if you did make any conclusions.

They said that they have the technology! Well, Rossi just believed them.
That's it. He did not have the evidence against either, so it would be
irrational from him to jump into conclusions and certainly it would not help
him to receive money. He was just waiting for the August, when they were
going to make actual legally binding contract.

But he waited for nothing, because Defkalion was never going to raise cash.
It is hard to be idealistic and believe people's innocence when we are
talking several megadollars worth of cash.
