be careful with the effect of hydrogen on any metal (make hydrides, make brittle, leaks and then self-ignite- H can burns a µg/min according to wikipedia, check airliquide.com for safety of H2...)
maybe (I have no clue) H2 can transform the characteristics of a thermocouple, especially at high heat and pressure...
