There are reports of low but significant levels of fast neutrons above background. Charles Beaudette describes a 1992 experiment by Akito Takahashi, for example, that found neutrons being emitted from a Pd-D system. In general, however, the level of neutron emission is well below that which would be expected for a nuclear reaction. This is one of the primary obstacles to nuclear physicists giving LENR research their serious attention.
