This is a typical example:
"Surface Analysis of hydrogen loaded nickel alloys"
(google that)

This basically is a good (well, who knows exactly?) analysis, BUT is 
off-process, and it's design is not fit for real-time-analysis.
But it could be redesigned  just to do what I propose.
