Message of the '2052'-book: Should be an 'educated forecast' The LTG 1972 theme was : 'Scenario-analysis'. (Links to videos: http://www.clubofrome.org/?p=4056)and some dire conclusions:
a) democratic processes emphasize short-termism via election periods and is defunct. we know that, right? b) 'capitalism' also, in addition to that:the question of 'discounting the future' is highly questionable. we know that, also, right? See e.g. the The Stern-debate: http://ips.ac.nz/publications/files/24480255304.pdf --read the conclusion-section. c) the world as we know it, is basically confronted with a fundamental change. Now why do I inject that into the vortex-list? Well. Because this in a very basic manner conflicts with a LENR-perspective, which would be a game changer, ofcourse. I read some 20 pages of Jed's book today, and basically agree, on some aspects I do not. But this does not matter. This is an open debate. Now, the Club-of-Rome crowd is definitely an independent 'elite' of sorts, not bound to conventional wisdom. Same as the LENR-crowd, which is much less equipped with the burden of an analysis of the future. More of a bunch of hopefuls? Now my question is: In what way will/could LENR change the course of the future? Jed has done some significant work on that, but all-in-all this is a question of system-dynamics, i.e. how could LENR actually change the course we are on, IN A TIMELY MANNER? The fourth update of LTG actually seems to have left the numerical scenario-approach somewhat in the diffuse, which, as a result, is not much different from a LENR-cornucopian Science-Fiction-approach (sorry). BUT: Look at it carefully! (Note: I plan to make a second comment on that, and then hopefully direct Your attention to a very curious person named Burkard Heim, (well known to Einstein, Pacual Jordan, Heisenberg and Weizsäcker, but who was practically unknown to me, and is completely unknown in the English-speaking world, and tackles the issue from a completely different angle, namely a unified field-theory, which seems to be on the table, -as solved- since the late 1950s. This story would have been unbelievable to me,until I encountered LENR and now challenges my common sense. There are enough 'crazy' people here, to recognize his significance. OK?
