Opposition to cold fusion is as strong as ever. See: http://e-catsite.com/2012/05/07/mit-physicist-nixes-cold-fusion-funding/
By the way, Mel Miles asked me to remove the black blocks covering the names of the guilty in this document: http://lenr-canr.org/acrobat/Fleischmanthermalbeh.pdf Plus I fixed a few typos. I replaced ~16 pages of this. The others are in facsimile format (text-under-image Acrobat) because it has some historic value. For example you see in the handwritten notes on p. 239 who Miles circulated it to. Miles and I suspect that one of the anonymous reviewers is none other than Steve Jones or Lee Hanson, based on the tone and the statement about Kel-F. Miles wrote to the editor, on p. 249 "I have read previous false statement by Steve Jones of BYU stating that Kel-F is electrochemically active. If you selected either Steve Jones or Lee Hansen of BYU as reviewers, then you guaranteed yourself a very negative review." This is one of the many ways the peer-review system is abused. Editors pick reviewers who will give them the answer they are looking for. - Jed
