I believe in LENR but not in Rossi, and feel embarrassed by his
phony claims.
His claims have been independently verified. They are not a bit phony.
How dumb can one be to believe that Rossi found the holy grail?
His experiments plus independent tests of his device prove that he has
found the holy grail. If he allows others to replicate, or if he sells
devices, he will contribute more to this field than anyone other than
Fleischmann and Pons.
On the other hand if he keeps doing what he is doing, hiding the device
and not allowing any investors or customers, then he will take the
secret to the grave with him the way Patterson did. In that case his
contribution will be zero. Patterson might as well never have lived for
all the good he did.
The fact that he is often a shameless jerk is irrelevant. Arata is also
a shameless jerk, and a right-wing fanatic, but he has made enormous
contributions to cold fusion and to many other fields of science. He
deserves all of the medals and honors he has gotten. His personality has
nothing to do with it. They did not name a building after him for being
a nice guy; they did that because he is a fantastic scientist.
I do not understand why so many people have difficulty separating the
claim from the personality of the researcher making the claim.
