>Maimon’s theory is essentially a rehash of older speculation - and is dead in >the water. Out of curiosity, whose are the earlier speculations? Early in the 1990s when Randell Mills presented evidence of thermal gain in Ni-H, there was speculation that this was related to the Mössbauer effect and to Auger Cascades. Mills was perhaps the leading expert on (medical uses) of Mössbauer and Auger spectroscopy. The isotope 57Fe is widely used in Mössbauer spectroscopy and it was thought Mills could have stumbled onto an isotope of Ni which did the same – but that was never shown to be true. This came to mind again when Rossi claimed to be enriching his Nickel with an isotope, but that too has never been verified. This list of Mills’ patents and patent applications shows that his medical and energy research was intermixed in time and place - and possibly overlapping with the Mossbauer, so that is intriguing. However there is no good evidence today that the hydrino or gain in Ni-H is related to the Mössbauer effect.
